The new Bengaluru airport is a nice thing to happen at last! – maddalam
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, we are here to give you the low-down on what travellers have reported back to us about their time at Bengaluru Kempegowda Airport.
What to Expect
Passenger services at Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport are provided in a large, modern, easy-to-navigate multi-level terminal (Terminal 1) with 20 departure gates. A separate “Hajj Terminal” provides charter services for pilgrims. The ground level is used for arrivals and check-in, the second level handles departures, and the third level is the gate area, with higher numbered gates generally serving international departures. The terminal features a broad selection of dining options and shops, as well as duty-free shopping. Some airside dining offers 24-hour service, while the WiFi is may be your only saving grace to help pass the time. For additional comforts, economy class passengers can pay to access one of the airport’s private lounges. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for locations and rates.
Where to Sleep
As of May 2018, we have not received any sleep-related reviews from travellers who’ve been to this airport, though we’ve heard the airside may prove the better option for sleeping due to the few numbers of overnight departures. If you have slept in this airport, please write a review to help future travellers! For uninterrupted sleep, there is a “Day Hotel” at the domestic departure check-in area and several other hotels within a quick shuttle ride of the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.
Good to Know
Coins may be needed to access some bathrooms.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
