BRI Airport Overview
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Bari Karol Wotjyła International Airport.
What to Expect
Bari Airport (code: BRI) serves its passengers with a small, two-level, 14-gate terminal separating arrivals from departures. The departure level is further divided into two waiting rooms for Schengen and non-Schengen flights. More than a dozen shops and eateries are dispersed throughout the airport. WiFi is available, but reviewers provided mixed reports on whether there are plentiful power outlets for charging electronic devices. For additional comfort, a private lounge can be used for a fee. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for locations and rates.
Sleeping in Bari Airport
It is possible to sleep overnight at Bari Airport; however, the terminal is small and has limited seating. Most seats have armrests, making it difficult to get comfortable and stretch out.
Reviews of Bari Airport are mixed. Several readers spotted couches located in the cafés scattered throughout the airport. However, some said these are inaccessible to travellers when the cafés are closed, while others reported you can easily move them around for extra comfort. People also reported metal benches with armrests in the waiting area. Luckily, there is ample floor space across the two floors of the terminal, and many passengers have reported stretching out and setting up camp here. M st sleep-related recommendations are for the top floor, which is quieter and away from regular foot traffic. However, one of our readers reported that police woke him up several times, saying he was not allowed to sleep on the floor.

Safety & Security
We have had no reports from travellers commenting on safety issues at Bari Airport.
Sleeping in any airport can include a certain level of risk, especially when travelling alone. It’s important to take certain precautions to ensure your safety and the security of your valuables. Here are a few tips:
- Safety First. It’s a good idea to know where the security office is; also, look for video cameras where you plan to sleep. You can also ask the security personnel for advice on the safest places to spend the night.
- Don’t Seclude Yourself. If you’re travelling alone, we recommend you stay near other travellers or close to security. This will help you feel more secure and deter potential thieves.
- Hide Your Valuables. It’s also important to hide your valuables. Don’t leave them out in plain view, as this could make you a target for theft. Additionally, if you are a deep sleeper, you may want to padlock your bag to something or sleep with your bag up against a wall to make it harder for someone to access zippers and pockets. We have received reports of sleepers who awoke without their phones and laptop bags. The travellers were left with just their headphones and laptop bag strap.
- Stay Alert. It’s best to stay alert and awake if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Drink coffee or other caffeinated beverages to help you stay awake, and remember that you can always catch up on sleep during your flight. These simple precautions can help you enjoy a safe night at the airport.
Airport Conditions
If you plan to spend the night at the airport, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Temperature – Some readers said the terminal is cold at night due to the air conditioning. Arrive prepared, just in case. It’s better to have a blanket than to need one later on. Even a hoodie provides extra warmth if the terminal gets colder.
- Lighting – A few travellers have reported that airport lights stay on all night. Come prepared with eyeshades or something else to cover your eyes, such as a shirt or towel.
- Noise – Bari Airport can get noisy with the sound of cleaners doing their jobs. Some travellers have reported this happening from about 10 PM until 1 AM. Earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones will help if you’re trying to sleep overnight.
