ELP Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at El Paso International Airport.

What to Expect

El Paso Airport (code: ELP) consists of a small, two-level terminal with two concourses (East and West). The terminal hosts a small variety of eateries and shops on both sides of security. When these services close at night vending machines are the only food and drink option, so plan accordingly. WiFi is available to help pass the time. There are no private lounges at this airport.

Sleeping in El Paso Airport

el paso airport guideAccording to a July 2023 review, you will not be permitted to stay inside the terminal between the hours 1:00AM – 3:00AM. Aside from that, if you are looking for a place to rest when the terminal is open, you will find comfortable, padded armchairs. One reviewer found comfortable sleeping space under counters located near the main entrance. If you plan to spend the night, consider bringing eyeshades to block out the bright lighting. Another handy item would be earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones to drown out the constant feed of advertising over the PSA. For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels within a quick shuttle bus ride of the airport. See Airport Hotels in the guide below or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
