IND Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Indianapolis International Airport.

What to Expect

Indianapolis Airport (code: IND) comprises two modern concourses connected by a central ticketing/check-in area. After clearing security, passengers can move between the two concourses without re-screening via an airside walkway. The airport hosts about two dozen eateries and an equal number of shops. The airport offers free WiFi and some power outlets for re-charging mobile devices. For additional comfort, economy class passengers can pay to use one of the first-class airport lounges. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for locations and rates.

Sleeping in Indianapolis Airport

Airport staff and security are described as accommodating to overnight sleepers, though passengers are restricted to the landslide once security checkpoints close for the night. Comfortable couches are located throughout the terminal, and the terminal lounge and baggage claim are recommended due partly to the comfortable seating. The terminal can get cold and noisy, so earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones and warm clothes/travel blankets are recommended. There is no onsite hotel, but some hotels are within a quick shuttle ride. See Airport Hotels in the guide below or read traveller reviews for more tips.

To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can add or update information or write a review to submit airport tips and photos. You can also visit the airport’s website for current information. For more airport information, continue scrolling down to explore more in our Indianapolis Airport Guide.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
