What to Expect

The new Islamabad airport, which opened in 2018, offers amenities such as an Airside Mall, banks, a business centre, and more. Both International and Domestic flights are served here with 25 gates available. WiFi is available throughout the airport. Comfort may be found through fee-based access to one of the airport’s first class lounges. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for locations and rates.

Give yourself plenty of time at the airport as you will be subject to a body and baggage search in order to gain entrance to the airport.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there are lounges that you can enter by paying at the door, purchasing a lounge pass or through a lounge membership program. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

There are no hotels at Islamabad Airport, so you will need to book a hotel in the city, which is a 20+ minute drive away.  Visit Tripadvisor to see a list of hotels in Islamabad, search deals and read traveller reviews.

Free, unlimited WiFi is available at Islamabad Airport. If you have a Pakistani mobile number you can register and receive an SMS with a password. If you do not have a Pakistani number, proceed to an Information Desk, where they can provide you with a password.

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available from 3 banks. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. Locations: unknown.

Banks -There are 6 banks available at the airport. Head to the Banking Square if you require their services.

Currency Exchange – Royal Currency Exchange, National Bank of Pakistan and State Bank of Pakistan offer services.

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free shopping is available as well as an Airside Shopping Mall.

Food & Drinks – The airport offers Restaurants. At the time of this update we have no information regarding location and hours.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Luggage Wrapping – Services are available for PKR-200/piece.

Mobile Charging – A reader tells us there are free mobile charging booth throughout the airport.  Charging points can be found in the Departure Halls.
