What to Expect

  • Kuching Airport (code: KCH) consists of a spacious and recently-renovated single-terminal with clean facilities and a wide variety of shops, restaurants and services.
  • Free WiFi is available.
  • Air-conditioning makes the terminal very cold! Bring a sweater.
  • Tons of mosquitoes inside and outside of the terminal. Make sure to wear mosquito repellent!
  • Economy class passengers can pay to enter one of the airport’s first-class lounges. See our Airport Lounges section for locations and rates.

Sleeping in Kuching Airport

  • Padded, armrest-free seats are available in the Departures area.

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter by paying at the door, purchasing a lounge pass, or using a lounge membership program. ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs, operated by CIMB Bank, are available. Fees may apply, so check your bank’s fee schedule and daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Level 1.

Baby Care Facilities – If you are travelling with an infant, there are baby care rooms for breastfeeding and diaper changing. Locations: Landside, Level 1, Public Concourse • Level 1, International & Domestic Arrivals Area • Level 2, Departures Gates.

Currency Exchange – Foreign exchange services are provided by CIMB Bank

Duty-Free & Shopping – Duty-Free and a small variety of other shops are available to pass the time.

Food & Drinks – Food concessions throughout the airport operate with varying schedules. At the time of this update, we cannot confirm the availability of any 24-hour dining options. Dining options include:
  • Level 1: McDonald’s • Old Town White Coffee • Secret Recipe
  • Level 2: Marry Brown
  • Level 3: KFC • Starbucks • Sumiran Cafe

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Massage Chairs – Look for the Rest N Go massage chairs available in a few locations throughout the airport (Levels 1 and 2). Rates: unknown.

Mobile Charging – Two charging stations are available at the airport. Locations: Level 2, Departure Area • Level 2, Holding Lounge.

Prayer Room – Muslim prayer rooms are available. Locations: Level 1, East Wing • Level 1, West Wing • Level 2, Bay 4 • Level 3, Public Concourse • Level 3, Departures Area.

Bus

Although not very reliable, public buses are an option if you are travelling light and on a tight budget. A list of bus routes that access the airport is available from the Tourist Information booth in Arrivals. Note: As of this update, there may be a short walk involved to access the buses, so be sure to inquire when asking at the airport.

There are eleven car rental companies with counters at the airport (Level 1, Arrivals area), including Ami • Avis • EPTA • Golden System • Hertz • Hornbill Tour • KA Rental • Kuching Holiday • Flexi • RG Car Rental • Thrifty.

Taxis

Prepaid taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area. Stop at the taxi booth outside of Arrivals to pay for your ride. You will receive a ticket to give to your taxi driver before boarding.

Pro-Tip: A reader tells us they have a fixed price for taxis, RM 26 for the farthest, but from 12:00 AM – 6:00 AM, they charge 50% more.
