What to Expect

Luxembourg Airport (code: LUX) has two terminals, both built in the last 15 years. Terminal A handles most carriers and Terminal B primarily caters to business flights. Amenities include several shops and eateries, both landside and airside, plus free WiFi. For added comfort while you wait, a lounge is available. Sleeping in Luxembourg Airport

The airport closes nightly from 12:00AM until 3:00AM, so only though with boarding passes are able to stay during those hours. For uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer free shuttle service. See our Airport Hotels section below for locations or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside, Level 0 • Landside, Level -1 • Airside, Level -1.

Baby Care Facilities – Baby change facilities are located throughout the airport.

Currency Exchange – Banque SAFRA offers services. Location: Landside, ground floor, opposite the check-in counters, section J. Hours: 8:30AM – 5:00PM with a lunch break from 1:00PM – 1:30PM (Mon – Fri).

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free shopping as well as a few other shops are available.
» Landside: Aelia Duty Free • Press & Books. Hours for Landside shops: 5:15AM – last flight.
» Airside: Aelia Duty Free Fashion • Aelia Duty Free Walkthrough Shop • Press & Books • The House of Delights. Hours for all Airside shops: Open according to flight schedules.

Food & Drinks – As of the last update, there were no 24 hour food and beverage concessions. There are, however, options available landside and airside in both Schengen and Non-Schengen areas. Hours for Landside options vary but you will find a cafe open at 5:00AM and a sandwich shop which closes at 11:00PM. Airside options are open according to flight schedules.

Information Desk – If you have any questions, visit the airport information desk. Location: Departure Hall, Landside, in front of check-in counters, Level 0.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Mobile Charging – There is an Orange charging station, airside, just after you pass through security.

Observation Area – Relax and watch planes taking off and landing from the vantage point of the airport’s observation deck. Location: Head to the panoramic restaurant on the mezzanine level (landside) for views of the runway while grabbing a drink or snack. Hours: 8:30AM – 8:30PM.

Rest Zones – There are no dedicated sleeping areas, quiet areas or rest zones. If this information has changed, click here to update this guide.

Smoking Areas – Location: near the boarding gates.

Airport Hours

The airport is open 3:00AM – 12:00AM. Night access permitted with tickets only.

Note: The airport’s web site states the airport opens at 4:00AM, but we had a reader send us a photo of sign at the airport that stated the airport was closed from 12:00AM – 3:00AM.

Luxembourg airport is served by the following airlines: Aegean Airlines • Alitalia • British Airways • EasyJet • Hahn Air • KLM • LOT • Lufthansa • Luxair • Ryanair • Swiss • TAP Portugal • Turkish Airlines • Volotea.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Bus

Bus 16 (Eurobus) runs daily between the airport, city center, Central Station and Kirchberg, with departures as frequent as every 10 minutes. Bus 29 links the airport to Rocade Station, with many along the way. As of March 2020, the buses are free. You can also connect to locations in France, Belgium and Germany from the airport. Taxi

Taxis are available at the designated area in front of the terminal.

Train

At the time of this update, a new train station is being constructed as part of the new Terminal A at Luxembourg Airport. This train station will link the airport to Central Station and the Kirchberg Plateau. Buses 16 and 29 offer service to Central Station during construction of the airport train station.
