What to Expect

Monroe Airport (code: MLU) consists of a new terminal with six departure gates. Amenities are limited to a bar and a small art gallery, though both close by early evening.  Free WiFi helps pass the time. No pay-to-use airport lounges are available.

Sleeping in Monroe Airport

The airport closes nightly between 11:00PM and 4:30AM, so spending the night here is not possible. For uninterrupted sleep, several nearby hotels offer free shuttle service upon request. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airport Hours

The airport is open 3:00AM until the last scheduled flight. From the airport: “For security reasons the Terminal is “locked down” between 12:00PM and 3:00AM and therefore passengers, and other persons, are not permitted to enter the Terminal during this time, nor sleep in the Terminal overnight.”

Airport Hotels

If sleeping in the airport sounds like a nightmare, there are hotels near Monroe Airport that provide free airport shuttles on request.  For airport pick-up, use the courtesy phone in baggage claim.

ATM/Cash Machines – Need cash? An ATM is available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Location: Main terminal, beside the Customer Service Desk.

Art Gallery – The art gallery displays work by local and regional artists. Located in Terminal A.

Food & Drinks – There are no 24-hour food and beverage concessions available at this airport. Sky Lounge offers wine, mixed drinks and beer (Hours: 12:00PM – 8:00PM). At the time of this update, it appears as the airport has plans to open a new restaurant soon.

Information Desk – Location: located on the Arrivals level. Customer Care staff can also be found throughout the airport if you require assistance.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport


Bus route 7 serves connects travellers to the downtown terminal where you can transfer to other connections.  Hours: 6:50AM – 6:30PM (inbound) and 6:05AM – 5:45PM (outbound), Mondays – Saturdays only. The bus delivers you to the downtown terminal where you can transfer to other connections. For route map, schedules and fare information, visit the City of Monroe website.
