Suddenly the airport was getting empty, shops were closing, and the police approached us and told us we had to leave–they were closing the airport. – a traveller
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Montego Bay Sangster International Airport.
What to Expect
Montego Bay Sangster International Airport consists of a small, single terminal with a dozen or so eateries and approximately 20 retail stores, almost all of which are located on the airside. The terminal is known for being hot and humid, and operates on “island time,” so expect long, slow check-in and security lines. Stay hydrated and consider wearing light, cool clothing for your trip home. WiFi is available to help pass the time. Additional services and comforts—including showers—can be found through fee-based access to one of the airport’s first class lounges. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for locations and rates.
Where to Sleep
As of March 2020, we have no sleep-related reviews from travellers who have used this airport. Please write a review to help future travellers! For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, all services and times listed below are subject to change.
