To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Okinawa Naha Airport.

What to Expect

okinawa airport guideOkinawa Naha Airport (code: OKA) serves both military and commercial purposes. Commercial flights are handled by three terminals: the Domestic Terminal, the LCCT Terminal extension, and the International Terminal, which opened in 2014. Head to Floor 4 to find several eateries, then browse the shops on Floors 2 and 3. WiFi is free in the departures areas. For added comfort while you wait, economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for location and access information.

Sleeping in Naha Airport

We do not yet have any sleep-related airport reviews.  Have a backup plan if you’re planning to spend the night.  For uninterrupted sleep, Day Rooms rents resting rooms landside in the Domestic Terminal. Other hotels are nearby. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airport Lounges

Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter by paying at the door. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

  • Lounge Hana – Location: Landside, 1st Floor, near Exit B. Showers are available.  Lounge Access: Pay at the Door.

Airport Hotels

If sleeping in Naha airport sounds like a nightmare, there are day rooms inside the terminal and hotels nearby:

Day Rooms – The airport offers “resting rooms” with beds. Domestic Terminal, Arrivals 1F, left hand side near JAL desk. Rates are unknown.

Airport WiFi/Internet

Unlimited free WiFi is available at Okinawa Naha Airport. Connect to the “Free_Wi-Fi_NAHA_Airport” network. Additionally, coin-operated PC’s are available on the 1st and 2nd Floor.

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover At The Airport

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: 2nd Floor, Domestic Area • 1st Floor, International Area.

Baby Care Facilities – Nursing Rooms are available on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Floors of the airport.

Banking Services – Bank of the Ryukyus provides full-service banking inside the airport. Location: 1st Floor, Arrivals Lobby. Hours: 9:00AM – 4:00PM (Weekdays).

Currency Exchange – Currency exchange services are available from either the exchange machine (Hours: 7:00AM – 11:30AM) or the exchange counter (9:00AM – 9:00PM) next to the tourist information booth. Both are located on the 1st Floor.

Dry Cleaning – Services available at Brother’s Laundry. Location: Domestic 3F. Hours: 10:00AM – 8:00PM.

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free shopping is available. There is a large variety of stores selling local specialties, souvenirs, perfumes, and much more. The hours vary, but most are open from 7:00AM and stay open till at least 8:00PM.

Food & Drinks – You will find restaurants options on the 1st, 2nd and 4th floors of the airport. At the time of this update, we did not have any information regarding the availability of any 24 hour restaurants. Vending machines available on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Floors.

Information Desk – Need help finding your way? Information desks can be found in the main areas on 1F, 2F and 3F. The operating hours of the information desk vary based on the floor and day.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – A storage room is available. Coin-operated lockers can also be found on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Floors.

Massages – If you would like to relax and unwind before your flight, use one of many massage chairs located on every floor. Or get a full-body massage from a masseuse at one of the massage booths. Locations: 1F • 3F. Hours: 9:00AM – 10:00PM. Rate: ¥1000 / 10 minutes.

Medical Services – Automated External Defibrillators (AED) are located throughout the airport.

Mobile Charging – Charging points are available throughout the airport on all floors.

Observation Deck – Watch the planes take-off and land atop the airport’s observation desk, free of charge. Locations: 3F, Airside • 4F, airside. Hours: 8:00AM – 7:00PM.

Post Office – Drop off your last minute postcards to friends and family from airport’s mailbox. Locations: 1F, Landside • 3F Landside.

Prayer Rooms – Available. Location: Airside, 4th Floor.

Rest Zone – Yes, on the 1st Floor.

Take precaution even when sleeping in the rest zones.  In December 2019, a traveller at another airport reported that money and credit cards had been stolen from their bag even though the bag was right beside them.  Protect and lock your bags as you would sleeping elsewhere in public.

Smoking – Designated smoking areas and rooms can be found on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Floors.

The airport hours are 6:00AM – 12:00AM (Domestic Terminal) and 6:00AM – 10:00PM (International Terminal).

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Bus

Several “limousine bus” lines serve the airport, offering comfortable, but somewhat affordable transportation between the airport and destinations in the local and regional area. You can find the limousine bus stop on 1F, outside and across from the taxi stand outside of the Domestic Flights terminal. For fares, routes and schedules, visit the Okinawa Naha Airport website.

Car Rentals

Car rental service is available onsite. The counter is located Domestic 1F, Arrivals Lobby, Landside. Hours: 9:00AM – 7:00PM.

Monorail

Yui Rail operates a monorail between Naha Airport Station (access from 3rd floor of the parking garage) and Shuri Station, with 15 stops total. One-way trip time is about 27 minutes, with service running from 6:00AM – 11:30PM. At the time of this update, a one-way base ticket costs ¥230 – ¥330.

Taxis

A variety of taxis (short distance, long distance, jumbo, and reserved) can be found at the corresponding taxi stands on 1F, outside of the Domestic Flights terminal.
