To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, we are here to give you the low-down on what travellers have reported back to us during their time at Phnom Penh International Airport.

What to Expect

  • A small and busy international airport with two separate terminals for domestic and international flights. A variety of overpriced shops and restaurants are available.
  • WiFi is available. See WiFi information in the airport guide below.
  • Uncomfortable, hard metal seating
  • Power outlets are difficult to find, and do not accept standard North American plugs.
  • Be prepared for the loud and aggressive taxi touts waiting outside of the airport for arriving passengers!
  • Economy class passengers can pay to enter one of the airport’s first class lounges. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for locations and rates.

Where to Sleep

  • Overnight stays are not permitted in this airport.
  • For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

Airport Lounges

Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter by paying at the door, purchasing a lounge pass or through a lounge membership program (ie. Priority Pass). Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

If sleeping in Phnom Penh Airport does not appeal to you, there are hotels near the airport:

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover At The Airport

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside and Airside.

Currency Exchange – Location: International Arrivals Exit, Public Concourse, Check-in Area and Boarding Gate 5

Duty Free & Shopping – Dufry Duty Free is available in International Arrivals and Departures. Hours: 6:00AM – 12:00AM. A small selection of souvenir shops and clothing stores are available.

Food & Drinks – There are restaurants and coffee shops available both landside and airside. There are no 24 hour options, but most food concessions are open from 6:00AM – 12:00AM daily.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – According to a message we received in November 2016, the airport no longer offers luggage storage due to security concerns.

Luggage Wrapping – Available for a fee. Location: Check-In. Hours: 5:00AM – 12:00AM.

Massage – Amata Massage offers massages and treatments. Location: Airside, Gate 5. Hours: 5:00AM – 12:00AM.

Mobile Charging – At the time of this update, we did not have any information about mobile charging availability. If you know, write a review or email us at [email protected]

Pharmacy – U Care Pharma. Location: International Terminal, Airside. Hours: 6:00AM – 12:00AM.

Prayer Rooms – Location: Landside, on the ground floor and International Departures Hall, airside, on the mezzanine level.

Rest Zones – Not available.

Showers – Showers are available in the Plaza Premium lounge for US$15. [ see Airport Lounges above ]

Smoking – There are smoking areas in the Internationals Departure Hall, next to Angkor Pub and the domestic boarding lounge.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport


Taxis and auto-rickshaws are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area of the airport. Fares depend on the zone you are travelling to. As of this January 2018 update, fares start at US $7.00 for rickshaws and US$ 9.00 for taxis.
