We wandered into a bathroom far away from the main hoards, and it was clean enough that i would have eaten off the floor. – Jamie and Kara
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, we are here to give you the low-down on what travellers have reported back to us about their time at Phuket International Airport.
What to Expect
Phuket Airport consists of three terminals, (International, Domestic and Terminal X—Charter). The airport features a reasonable selection of eateries and shops, with some offering 24-hour service. Despite upgrades to its baggage handling system, the airport is still known for having a difficult time with baggage processing, so expect possible delays. WiFi is available and there are plenty of power outlets throughout. Additional comfort can be found through fee-based access to one of the airport’s first class lounges. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for locations and rates.
Where to Sleep
While the third floor of the International Terminal was previously mentioned as a relatively good spot for overnight sleeping, there is reportedly a new (as of a April 2017 review) waiting area on the ground floor “near the 7/11,” with comfortable seating, artificial grass flooring and nearby bathroom facilities. Come prepared with a sleep mask and earplugs to block out those bright airport lights and annoying overhead announcements! For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.
Good to Know
Don’t like the shopping and dining options inside the airport? Additional shops, restaurants, convenience stores, and even airport hotels, are only a 10-minute walk from the airport!
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships
Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there are lounges that you can enter by, purchasing a lounge pass or through a lounge membership program (ie. Priority Pass). Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!
Passes Coral Executive Lounge (International) – Location: Terminal 1 International, Airside, International Departure, 4th Floor. Lounge Access: Prepaid lounge passes • Lounge membership programs. [ more lounge info ]
