POM Airport Overview
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Port Moresby Jackson International Airport.
What to Expect
Port Moresby Airport (code: POM) consists of two terminals (Domestic and International) linked by a covered walkway. There is a restaurant and some small shops in the recently renovated International Terminal, but there are limited amenities in the Domestic Terminal. Overall, the International Terminal is described as cleaner and more sanitary than the Domestic Terminal. One reviewer suggests only using the bathrooms in the International Terminal. WiFi is available to help pass the time. And if you don’t mind paying, comfort may be found through fee-based access to one of the first-class lounges.
Sleeping in Port Moresby Airport
We do not have any recent sleep-related airport reviews. Still, one past review (2014) from a former resident advised against sleeping at the airport due to personal security and hygiene reasons. Have a backup plan if you’re planning to spend the night. For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels below.
Good to Know
Be wary of scam artists and pickpockets, and keep a close watch on your bags at all times, even when going through security. Pre-organize your ground transportation.
Read some traveller reviews for more tips. For more airport information, continue scrolling down to explore more in our Port Moresby Airport Guide.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
