What to Expect

Sleeping in Portland Jetport

After security checkpoints close for the night, all passengers are restricted to the landside areas, and security must be re-cleared the next day when the checkpoints open. There are a few armrest-free benches near the baggage claim area and a quieter area in the reception area of the airport’s management office. If you intend to sleep in this airport, reviewers suggest bringing a travel mat and/or travel blanket, as well as earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones and eyeshade. For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the guide below, or read traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security.
