Rick Husband Amarillo Airport (code: AMA) is a small, modern airport with a single terminal, one concourse and seven gates. Travellers describe it as a quiet airport with limited things to do while waiting for a flight. Facilities include a restaurant, bars, gift shops and free WiFi. The terminal has plenty of armrest-free seating, although large west-facing windows can make it quite bright in the late afternoon and evening.

Sleeping in Amarillo Airport
Amarillo Airport has some promising seating options for travellers hoping to catch a nap, although feedback on the overall experience is mixed. A June 2023 traveller review mentions plenty of relatively flat, armrest-free seats after security, along with several flat benches before security. The terminal was also reportedly quiet on a Friday evening, making it easier to relax. One drawback is the sunlight streaming through the large west-facing windows, particularly around sunset. An eye mask may come in handy if you’re trying to sleep during daylight hours.
There are no dedicated sleeping areas or rest zones, and cots are not provided to stranded travellers. For uninterrupted sleep, several nearby airport hotels are located a short drive from the terminal. None are within walking distance, so you’ll need to arrange transportation.
