What to Expect

Stewart Airport (code: SWF) has a small terminal that serves both domestic and international destinations.  Travellers will find a landside eatery, an airside cafe, and a couple shops. Free WiFi helps pass the time. There are no pay-to-use airport lounges.

Sleeping in Stewart Airport

The airport closes nightly from 1:00AM to 4:00AM, so it is not possible to stay the night. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are located nearby. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside.

Baby Care Facilities – If you are travelling with an infant, family restrooms are available (Landside and Airside). Additionally, Mamava Nursing Suites are available for nursing mothers. Locations Airside, near Gate 4 • Airside, near Gate 2.

Currency Exchange – The Travelex Currency Exchange Kiosk offers currency exchange services. Location: Landside, Arrivals Hall.

Duty Free & Shopping – Dufry offers Duty Free shopping (2nd Level, across from Gate 3). In addition, you will find 2 Hudson News stores (Landside and Airside). Hours: unknown.

Food & Drinks – Euro Cafe is the only available food concession. Location: Airside, between Gates 3 and 4. Hours: unknown.

Information Desk – If you have any questions, stop by the airport’s Welcome Center for assistance. Location: Landside, 1st Level.

Car Hire

For car hire services, such as Uber and Lyft, rides can be booked through the app only.

Car Rentals

The following car rental companies services Stewart Airport: Avis • Budget • Enterprise • Hertz • National. Location: counters can be found on the main level directly across from the security screening and baggage claim area.

Express Bus

Coach USA provides an express bus service between New York Stewart International Airport and New York City. You can either purchase your bus tickets online or at the airport from the Coach USA ticket agent located near the terminal exit. In New York City, tickets are available at the Coach USA’s ticket office in the Port Authority Bus Terminal (Location: 2nd level, North Wing).

Travel time by bus is approximately 75 minutes in either direction.

Hotel Shuttles

A few area hotels provide airport shuttle service:  Courtyard by MarriottHampton Inn and Suites Newburgh.

Rail

Metro-North‘s Hudson Line connects the airport to New York City (Grand Central Terminal) via Beacon Station. Access from Stewart International Airport to Beacon Station is available through the Leprechaun Lines Newburgh Beacon Shuttle.

The shuttle bus departs from in front of the Terminal Building. Hours: 9:00 AM to 8:25 PM (Mon – Fri). Rate: $1, to be paid to the driver in cash.

Metro-North’s Port Jervis Line connects the airport to Hoboken, New Jersey via Salisbury Mills Station.

Taxi

Taxis are available. The airport suggests that you speak with a red-jacketed Customer Care Representative in the terminal or at the Welcome Center for assistance scheduling a ride.
