What to Expect

The small, recently updated terminal at Tauranga Airport (code: TRG) handles several domestic routes. Facilities are limited to a combination cafe/shop. Another cafe is in the Classic Flyers Club, a short walk from the terminal. Free WiFi helps pass the time.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. If sleeping in the airport sounds like a nightmare, there is a hotel near Tauranga Airport.  Most area hotels are within a 10-15 minute drive, so staying directly at the airport isn’t so important.

Airport Lounges

Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter through a lounge membership program (i.e. Koru Club). Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and learn how to gain access with just an economy class ticket!

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so check your bank’s fee schedule and daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: landside, next to the check-in counters.

Baby Care Facilities – If you are travelling with an infant, there is a baby care room for breastfeeding and diaper changing. Location: near car rental desks.

Baggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage trolleys are available in the baggage claim area, Rates: unknown.

Conference Facilities – A boardroom is available for rent. It can accommodate up to 15 people and comes with a whiteboard, overhead projector and a screen. Catering is available on request. There are also conference facilities in the Classic Flyers Club, located a short walk from the terminal building.

Duty-Free & Shopping – There is no duty-free shopping in Tauranga. The café sells reading materials and souvenirs.

Museum – The Classic Flyers Club runs an aviation museum. It is located on the airport property, a short walk from the terminal.

Taxi

The airport partners with Mount Tauranga Taxis and Taxicabs. They are available in the taxi rank outside the arrivals hall when flights arrive, but reservations can also be made in advance.
