To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Trieste Airport.

What to Expect

The small terminal at Trieste Airport handles a few domestic and European routes. Amenities include three eateries, vending machines, and free WiFi. Economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for location and access information.

Where to Sleep

The airport closes nightly, from 12:00AM until 4:00AM, so overnight stays are not possible. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are nearby. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

Airport Lounges

Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter by paying at the door, purchasing a lounge pass or through a lounge membership program (ie. Priority Pass). Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

Airport Hotels

If sleeping in Trieste Airport does not appeal to you, there are hotels near the airport:

  • Hotel Major – (5 minutes from the airport) No airport shuttle. Day use rooms are available.  » Check Rates

Free WiFi is available at Trieste Airport, connect to the “trs-airport” network.

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover At The Airport

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside only.

Baby Care Facilities – Family washrooms are available on all floors and can be found at most of the washroom locations.

Currency Exchange – There is a bank located Landside which may provide these services.

Duty Free and & Shopping – Duty Free is available as well as one newsagent shop (Landside).

Food & Drinks – There are no 24-hour food and beverage concessions.Here are the choices available:
» Landside – Gusto Restaurant, 1st Floor (Hours:11:00AM – 3:00PM and 6:00PM – 9:00PM) • Moka Cafe, Viewing Terrace Upper Level (Hours: 5:30AM – last flight).
» Airside – Moka Cafe Gourmet (Hours: 5:30AM – last flight).
» Vending machine offering snacks and drinks (hot and cold) are available both landside and airside.

Information Desk – Location: Ground floor, near the entrance

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Medical Services – There is a First Aid Station located on the Ground Floor, Landside.

Mobile Charging – At the time of this update, we did not have any information about mobile charging availability. If you know, click here to update this airport guide.

Postal Services – Drop off your last minute postcards at the airport’s mailbox. Location: Landside, Ground Floor.

Prayer Room – Available on the 1st Floor, across from the washrooms.

Rest Zones – Not available.

Showers – Not available.

Travel Agencies – If you are arriving in Trieste and need local arrangements or help planning a really last minute trip abroad, there is a IATA Air Ticket office that can probably be of assistance.

Airport Hours

The airport is open 4:30AM – 11:30PM.


As of February 2019, Trieste airport is served by the following airlines: Alitalia • Eurowings (begins June 2019) • Lufthansa • Ryanair • TUI Fly • Volotea.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport


APT Gorizia public buses 1 and 26 link the airport to Grado, Monfalcone and Gorizia. APT Gorizia public bus 51 links the airport to Monfalcone, Trieste and Udine. Tickets are sold at coach station, automated vending machines and Tourist Information centers.

Car Rentals

The following car rental agencies are available in the Arrivals Hall: Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Locauto/Enterprise, Maggiore, Sicily by Car/AutoEuropa and Win Rent.


Taxis are readily available outside of the airport terminal daily from 8:00AM – 12:00AM.


The airport has a station on the Trieste-Venice and the Udine-Trieste railway line. For more information,  visit the Trenitalia website.
