TOS Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Tromsø Airport.

What to Expect

The main building at Tromsø Airport (code: TOS) is divided into the newer Terminal A, for domestic flights, and the older Terminal B, which handles European routes. Amenities include five eateries and a few small shops, but none are open 24 hours so plan ahead for late-night snacks. WiFi is free in two-hour sessions, but you can log in repeatedly.

Sleeping in Tromsø Airport

tromso airport guideThe airport does close nightly, but it seems overnight campers can stay landside as long as you arrive before closing time. The cafe in the baggage claim area has three comfortable couches. Scattered about are several armrest-free rows of seats. Or, rest on the floor with a sleeping bag or travel blanket. Earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones combat noise that occurs as late as 1:00AM and as early as 4:00AM. For uninterrupted sleep, a hotel is nearby. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can add or update information or write a review to submit airport tips and photos. You can also visit the airport’s web site for current information.  For more airport information continue scrolling down to explore more in our Tromsø Airport Guide.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
