If sleeping in Whangarei airport sounds like a nightmare, there are a few B&Bs nearby and a hotel along the road into the city. The drive to the city is approx. 15+ minutes away.

The airport is open 1 hour before the first Air New Zealand flight and closes after the last arrival. It is not possible to sleep in the airport overnight.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport
Whangarei Airport is linked to Whangarei CBD via CityLink bus, which stops right outside of the terminal.
The following car rental agencies are located in the Baggage Claim area: Avis • Budget • Hertz.
