What to Expect

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport (code: AVP) features a midsize, two-level terminal with eight gates. The airport has two restaurants and a donut/coffee shop. WiFi is available, and there are fee-based massage chairs for sit-back-and-relax pre-flight comfort. There are no private lounges at this airport.

Sleeping in Wilkes-Barre Airport

Remember that TSA airline check-in and baggage drop hours vary according to the flight schedule. Check these hours with your airline. If you are in the terminal’s public area (landside), you will not be able to get through to the terminal’s secure area (airside) until approximately 4:00 AM.

Pocono Club & Business Center – Access: The Pocono Club and Business Center is available to frequent flier members who travel (A) at least 25,000 miles per year from any one airline serving the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport or (B) at least six (6) times within the past year from AVP. Membership is required. Hours: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Mondays through Fridays, except Holidays.

Military Lounges

A Military Appreciation Suite is available at Wilkes-Barre airport for active and retired members of the U.S. Military. Location Airside, 1st Floor.

Drinking Water

Thirsty? Drinking water fountains are available free of charge. Locations: 1st & 2nd Floor of Terminal Building.

Food & Drinks

At the time of this update, there are no 24-hour dining options, so if you are stuck in the airport overnight, you should purchase water and snacks early. Dining options include Lucky’s Craft Food & Drink (open daily at 10:30 AM) • Dunkin Donuts (4:30 AM – last departing flight).

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so check your bank’s fee schedule and daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Location: 1st Floor, center of the terminal.

Baby Care Facilities  – Two Lactation rooms are available. Location: 2nd Level, near Administration Office • Past Security checkpoint, near escalator to Gates 1 and 2.

Baggage Carts – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage carts are available for a fee. Locations: Baggage Claim • Level 1, Ticketing • Parking Lot and Garage. Rate: unknown.

Conference Room – Conference room facilities are available for rent; contact the Administrative Office for rates and reservations.

Duty-Free & Shopping – Northeast PA News & Gift is the airport’s only shopping option. Location: 2nd Floor, next to Lucky’s Craft Food & Drink.

Information Desk – Location: 1st Floor, near the middle entrances.

Massage Chairs – Self-service massage chairs are available in two different locations on the 2nd Floor. Rates are $1 for three minutes or $5 for 15 minutes.

Medical Services – First aid services are available if you feel unwell or injured yourself. Location: within Terminal Building. Hours: 24 hours.

Post Office – USPS and FedEx have mailing centers near the baggage claim. USPS pick-ups are at 9:30 AM every day except Sundays, and FedEx pick-ups are at 9:30 PM except for weekends.

Prayer Area – The Meditation Room offers a quiet interfaith area for prayer and meditation. Various religious materials are available for use. Location: 2nd Floor, above the Information Center. Hours: Open 24 hours.
