Avoid C concourse on Wednesday nights as it is full of oilfield workers travelling to Prudhoe Bay on Thursday. You are safe there, but the snoring is truly world class! - Kris

Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, we are here to give you the low-down on what travellers have reported back to us during their time at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

What to Expect

  • ANC is a mid-sized international airport with two terminals: North and South. South Terminal has three concourses (Concourses A, B and C)
  • If you are able to stay airside, the McDonald’s there is open 24 hours.
  • One reviewer noted a lack of charging stations
  • The airport provides free WiFi. See WiFi information in the airport guide below.

Where to Sleep

  • Reviewers describe the airport as clean, quiet and safe but very cold, with ice cold floors and very few seats without armrests. Have a sleeping bag or travel mattress and blanket handy, as it is likely that you will be sleeping on the floor.
  • Concourse C has row upon row of armrest-free seating. A small observation area just before Gate C1 is quieter than the rest of the airport, and a reviewer strongly suggests the area at C9, under the hanging airplane, for a nice place to sleep.
  • Check out the area near the Ravn Alaska ticketing/check-in desks for a quiet area with some armrest-free seating.
  • Have earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones handy, as those overhead announcements happen frequently, well into the night!
  • For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport that provide free airport shuttles. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.

Good to Know

  • Economy class passengers can pay to use one of the first class lounges. See our Airport Lounges section for locations and rates.
