"I used this airport to get a flight to Grenada. It's size is more than adequate to deal with the number of passengers. There's a video arcade, coffee shops and fast food restaurants which are open 24 hours. The airport appears to be very new and architecturally pleasing with an impressive skylight. All areas of this airport have AC and the duty free area has the appeal of an international mall with a variety of shops. I had no problems with officials at customs or with security. The bathrooms are clean, with auto flush and all the benches are padded (no armrests however). All in all not bad for a Caribbean island and not a bad place to spend a night if I had to."

"Don't do it. The main ticketing area where we had to wait in line was barely a hangar with one side open to the elements... and when it rained, we got wet. But we didn't dare get out of line or risk losing our places while flying "standby" while there were flights still leaving. But once the day's flights were done, I was invited back to stay with a new friend I'd made (Thank you heartily, Shanti Maharaj!) at her house. After a shower and breakfast, I actually felt human again. And after 3 days I was finally able to board a flight back to the states. Nope, Piarco is NOT a place to stay.... believe me."

"I really hope the other review about this airport is right and that it has recently been rebuilt. Was an absolute nightmare the whole time I was here.Firstly they wouldn't let me into the country because I didn't have a ticket out, despite the fact I was sailing to Miami and had a ticket from there to LGW, so after much argument at 2 am I was forced to buy a connecting flight to Miami from the only airline that was still open (no surprises it was the airport's host airline and charged me almost double the standard fare - managed to claim it back later, minus 25 "admin fee").So I finally proceded through security into the meagre offerings of the arrival lounge. No seating of any note to be found so thought I'd go check out where to get my connecting flight to Tobago from. Turned out it was in a different terminal so went there to see what time I could hop on a plane. Of course, it wasn't open and there was no schedule, so figured I'd hang around until it opened. Went back to the arrival terminal only to find I wouldn't be let back in (I really don't know why the took offence at me, ok, so I looked a little ragged with my "Andes" bag, guitar, and huge rucksack but all I wanted to do was sleep). Luckily, it being quite warm, I could stay outside and there were a couple of bars there with me ole' friend booze to keep me company. Got no sleep at all due to shifty characters eyeing my bags up and being requested by the somewhat tipsy locals to play songs on the guitar for them.So all in all, glad it has been rebuilt and hopefully improved."
