"I was delayed coming back from Skiathos in the absolute peak of the weather. It was 110f in the shade- roasting people like hell itself. So we rocked up for our flight back- checked our bags in, & sat and waited. We had given all our bags in ( excluding minimum hand luggage) and we had thoroughly ran out of money.
The area before boarding is the absolute pits. Its a circular kind of space with plastic uncomfortable seating all around. But the worst is the roof which is in a glass dome. Well you can imagine the heat. there were people smoking absolutely everywhere ( I'm a smoker but in that heat was absolutely stifling). there were children literally being fried alive. the shop ran out of drinks. the duty free closed as well, so there wasn't anything to look at to pass the time. there was no water fountain and at one point for a few hours they closed the toilets. We were not allowed out of the secure area- despite being delayed for about 15 hours. I was never so pleased to get on a cold charter flight in my life. I got no sleep at all, and inherited a pretty nasty cough from the experience.
