"Well, I missed my late night flight to Las Vegas. I think possibly the staff at America West express were drug addicts. At least this particular woman appeared to be highly disoriented, delusional etc. Anyway, the car rental area is darkened after hours. That is the best sleeping spot at SBP. Security says you must leave between 2AM and 4:30AM, as the facility locks down during that time. Cab ride to Denny's for a midnight snack was about 13 each way. Much cheaper than 129 minimum I could find at ANY decent motel in this expensive little town. SBP is a charming small airport typical of the American regional airport system. Pleasing design, very clean, etc. I slept on a padded bench in the car rental room from 10PM - 2AM, was forced to leave, and returned around 5AM from Denny's. It CAN be done... security was helpful and not a hassle."

"We arrived in SLO on a Sunday evening after a long day of driving & flying. We didn't know what to expect and just wanted to get to our accommodation.
It was quite a surprise when we realised that we were... well, kind of stuck. There is simply no transportation from or to the airport. This airport is mainly for locals who are being picked up by family etc. If you're a tourist, well then... bad luck!
There is a taxi company advertising (see poster in the airport) but the ad clearly says "we don't serve the airport". What a great help!
A local then told us there is only one taxi company in town (they are supposed to have surfboards on the car's roof). Somehow my boyfriend managed to book a cab which would take 20 - 30 mins they said. I sat down in the airport. The benches are comfy enough to sleep on them. The airport itself has a restaurant/bar, a coffee kiosk outside, one luggage belt. It's very clean and the hall is nicely decorated. Did I forget anything? No.
Anyway, the taxi never arrived but luckily the lady from the Inn we had booked picked us up. If you arrive at this airport make sure you have somebody to collect you!"
