Plane Hotels: Sleeping on Airplanes Without the Turbulance

Whether you love anything aviation themed or you just want to experience sleeping on an airplane without sitting upright and drooling on yourself, we have something for you.  Check out these three airplanes that have been salvaged from the airplane graveyard and  recycled into unique airplane hotels.

Hotel Costa Verde

Located in the Costa Rican jungle, a vintage 1965 Boeing 727 airplane sits perched on a 50-foot pedestal in the jungle canopy.  The 727 Fuselage Home features two air conditioned bedrooms, each with its own private bath—a flat screen TV, a kitchenette, and dining area. You can enjoy the jungle and ocean views from your terrace.  You might even be greeted by one of your treetop neighbours: sloths, toucans, and monkeys.

Rate: $ 250 – 750 per night (depending on the time of year)

NL Hotel Suite

In this edition of Extreme Aircraft Makeover, a Cold War-era East German aircraft has been transformed into a single luxury hotel suite near Teuge Airport. Back in the day, this airplane would carry 120 passengers and 4 crew. Today, two people are accommodated very comfortably. The suite features a Jacuzzi, sauna, bar, kitchen and flat screen tv. Before you start calling your friends over for a party, they seem to have pretty strict rules about no visitors.

Rate: € 350 per night

Jumbo Hostel

If you can’t afford to book an entire airplane suite, the Jumbo Hostel might be more in your budget. This two level Boeing 747-212B offers 27 comfortable private and bed dorms. The most luxurious room is found on the upper deck in the Cockpit. The first class cabin has been converted into a funky 24-hour cafe.  Jumbo Hostel is located 5 minutes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport.  Shuttle service is available.

Rate: SEK 450.00 per night

  • This kind of places can be very much appreciated by people who loves to relax and to experience sleeping in an airbus. And I think another factor it can do to attract people is to have it affordable.

  • Well this is pretty cool though I do not like sleeping on planes nor would I enjoy sleeping on a hotel that reminds me of it!
