The airport’s official comment about sleeping in the airport: “Yes, it is possible to stay overnight in the airport. Zagreb Airport is open 24 hours, 365 days/year. However, passengers can stay in the landside area, immediately before the body check. Once passengers get to the airport our employees at the Information desk will provide them with relevant information regarding conditions of overnight stay at the airport.”
ZAG Airport Overview
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Zagreb Airport Franjo Tuđman.
What to Expect
The new Zagreb Airport terminal (code: ZAG) opened in 2017 and primarily handles European routes. Amenities include free WiFi and a few shops and eateries, though none are open 24 hours. Economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for location and access information.
Sleeping in Zagreb Airport
The airport is OK with travellers spending the night, but campers are restricted to the landside area and should inform airport staff at the information desk. The seating is metal, so consider a sleeping bag for extra comfort. The mezzanine level on Floor 2 may provide some peace and quiet, and an eye mask can help with bright lights. For uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer shuttle service. See the Airport Hotels section below for locations, or read traveller airport reviews for more tips.
To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can add or update information or write a review to submit airport tips and photos. You can also visit the airport’s website for current information. For more airport information, continue scrolling down to explore more in our Zagreb Airport Guide.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security. For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
