The airport’s official comment about sleeping in the airport: “Yes, it is possible to stay overnight in the airport. Zagreb Airport is open 24 hours, 365 days/year. However, passengers can stay in the landside area, immediately before the body check. Once passengers get to the airport our employees at the Information desk will provide them with relevant information regarding conditions of overnight stay at the airport.”
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Zagreb Airport.
What to Expect
The brand new terminal at Zagreb Airport opened in 2017 and primarily handles European routes. Amenities include free WiFi and a few shops and eateries, though none are open 24 hours. Economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for location and access information.
Where to Sleep
The airport is OK with travellers spending the night, but campers are restricted to the landside area and should inform airport staff at the information desk. Seating is metal, so consider a sleeping bag for extra comfort. The mezzanine level on Floor 2 may provide some peace and quiet and an eye mask can help with bright lights. For uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer shuttle service. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships
Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter by paying at the door, purchasing a lounge pass or through a lounge membership program. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!
Diner’s Club International Airport Lounge – Location: Airside, in the east wing of the Passenger Terminal Building on the first floor above the “Art Café”. Lounge Access: Diner’s Club credit card.
