BNE Airport Overview
Brisbane Airport comprises two terminals—International and Domestic—connected by a free shuttle bus (departs every 15 minutes/24 hours a day). Both terminals contain plenty of landside and airside shopping, and a 24-hour supermarket can be reached by shuttle (10-minute journey). You will also find free WiFi to help pass the time. There are lounges in both the Domestic and International Terminals, with at least one offering paid access to economy-class passengers.
Sleeping in Brisbane Airport
The International Terminal is the better choice for sleeping at Brisbane Airport, with armrest-free couches and other seating that travellers have found comfortable enough for several hours of rest. Overnight sleepers generally describe it as safe and reasonably quiet, although cool temperatures, bright lighting and occasional music can make sleeping harder. The Domestic Terminal is much more challenging because the more comfortable departures area closes overnight, leaving sleepers before security with limited seating options. For detailed sleeping locations, conditions, photos and traveller tips, see our Guide to Sleeping in Brisbane Airport or read the latest traveller reviews.
An airport hotel is located next to the International Terminal and can be accessed by AirTrain and shuttle bus. Other nearby airport hotels are serviced by shuttles. See Airport Hotels in the guide below.
Airport Hours
The airport is open 24 hours on the landside for both the International and Domestic Terminals. Security screening closes overnight based on flight schedules: International (approximately 1:00 AM – 4:00 AM) and Domestic (approximately 1:00 AM – 4:30 AM). Overnight access airside is limited during these hours.
Rest & Relaxation Zones
There are no official rest or sleep zones, but travellers have reported using the following quieter areas:
International Terminal
- Airside, near Gates 80–82 (padded seating; generally quieter late at night)
- Landside, Level 2 near check-in (bench seating; calmer after midnight)
Domestic Terminal
- Airside, near Gate 22 (Qantas seating; softer seats but busy during the day)
Seating availability and noise levels can change depending on flight activity and overnight operations. If this information has changed, click here to update this guide.
