What to Expect

Seoul Incheon Airport (code: ICN) is a large airport divided into two terminals (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2). A free underground train (shuttle) and street-level buses connect the terminals, though long walking distances to gates remain common.

You can only blame yourself if you are hungry or bored here. Dozens of Korean, Asian, and Western eateries are both landside and airside, and many stay open 24 hours. Travellers rave about the entertainment here, like the nearby golf course, the city tours for those on a transit, and the interactive Korean Culture Experience. Other amenities include free WiFi, designated rest zones, and free showers. If all that’s not enough, economy-class travellers can purchase entry to several airport lounges.

Sleeping in Incheon Airport

Sleeping at Incheon Airport is generally comfortable, with padded armrest-free benches landside and free Nap and Relax Zones with reclining seats airside. The dedicated rest areas can fill up overnight, and some travellers report that parts of the terminals can get quite cold, so having an extra layer is a good idea. If you cannot check in or clear security until morning, landside seating provides a practical alternative to the more comfortable airside rest zones. Airport Hours

The airport is open 24 hours. Landside areas remain accessible overnight. Airside access depends on flight schedules, as security checkpoints may close overnight during extended gaps in departures.

Rest & Relaxation Zones

The airport offers Relax Zones (recliner-style chairs) and Nap Zones (padded loungers or flat beds). These areas are free to use and generally accessible 24 hours a day, though occasional closures for cleaning or crowd management can occur.

Charging stations are widespread in both terminals, including near gates, rest zones, and lounges, with free access. Many seating areas have nearby power towers with multiple sockets. Showers

Freshen up with a shower before your flight. Paid shower facilities are available airside in both terminals. Rates: 7,000 KRW (Transit passengers) • 15,000 KRW (General passengers).

Cell Phone Rentals / SIM Cards – Multiple companies offer cell phone rentals, SIM cards, and eSIM services in both terminals, with options suitable for short layovers or longer stays.

Family Services
Baby Care Facilities – Babycare Lounges include diaper-changing tables, washbasins, bottle sanitizers, and nursing equipment. These facilities are free to use for pregnant women, babies under three, and their mothers. Terminal 1 has multiple locations, as does Terminal 2.
Children’s Play Area – Designated play areas are available airside in both terminals, offering a place for children to burn off energy before a flight.
Strollers – Complimentary strollers are available on request. Ask at an Information Desk. In the past, Korean Air also offered stroller rentals for departing passengers, though availability may vary.
Information Desk – Information Desks are located throughout both terminals. Hours vary, but each terminal has desks that operate 24 hours a day to assist travellers.

Bus

Car Rentals

Renters must have an International Driver’s License issued in the same country as their regular driver’s license, and some agencies require both. Major car rental agencies Lotte, SK Rent-A-Car and Sixt are near the airport complex. Ask your service provider of choice about location and rental details.

Inter-Terminal Shuttle

The airport provides a free shuttle bus between the terminals and long-term parking facilities. The buses depart approximately every 5 – 20 minutes and operate from 4:30 AM – 11:20 PM.

Taxi
