Airport Adventures:
GUANGZHOU AIRPORT

by ?

"I passed by Guangzhou Airport in the summer of this year (2006). It is a really nice airport and the infrastructure was new. However, what left a most lasting impression on me was when I had to collect my luggage from the arrivals hall and then check in again as I was on a connecting flight.

Whilst waiting for my luggage, the conveyer belt that was churning out the luggage suddenly stopped working. The airport staff didn't really do anything and we were wondering where our bags were. The next moment, I saw a few of the local chinese passengers enter the black flaps where the luggage comes out from, which was incredible. A short while later, they emerged with their luggages, dusted themselves and moved off. Since the airport staff were not doing much to help, everyone started doing the same and it was hilarious watching them do so. "
