Airport Adventures:
NASHVILLE AIRPORT

by BCT

" Nashville is a great airport to sleep in, but not a great airport to fly from. I was down in Manchester, TN this past June for the Bonnaroo music festival, which is basically 3 days of music, camping and food, but no showers to speak of. Needless to say, I was pretty filthy by the end of the venture. I arrived back at the Nashville airport late at night, after the ticketing counter closed, so I resigned to finding a good place to camp out. Nashville has got a great open-area bar/lounge, which was closed but you could enter it. I found a nice couch next to a row of video games and fell right asleep. I woke up around 3am and had to unroll my sleeping bag, since someone had kicked the A/C on and set it to "icebox" mode. There was minimal security, none of which spoke to me or even entered the lounge area. There was a small cleaning crew but again, they didn't enter the lounge area. After pulling out the sleeping bag, I got perfect sleep until 6:00am, when I went to the ticket counters to try to find a flight. There were flights available, but I was turned away because I was too dirty to board the plane (it had rained at Bonnaroo and I was muddy head to toe). I can't completely blame them. Instead I drove to Cincinnati, spent the day there, slept in their airport and after a makeshift shower session in the bathroom, flew home the next morning. "
